2013 TOSTITOS FIESTA BOWL
When: Thursday January 3rd, 2013
Who: (4) Oregon vs (5) Kansas State
The second best BCS bowl matchup on paper. A high flying Ducks offense meets the underrated Wildcats defense. Chip Kelly possibly coaching his last game in college. Three Heisman contenders meeting on the same field. Bill Snyder being the usual Bill Snyder. Oregon with the flashy new uniforms versus Kansas State's traditional ones. The storylines of this game are plenty. The Ducks offense is led by senior RB Kenjon Barner and the ever dangerous sophomore RB De'Anthony Thomas with redshirt freshman QB Marcus Mariota thrown in for good measure. I would have no qualms about taking Mariota or Teddy Bridgewater for that matter, in 2014 should the Titans fall on their faces again and should they go pro. Believe it or not, the Ducks defense features some draft eligible guys as well, DE Dion Jordan, LB Michael Clay, LB Kiko Alonso chief among them. I'm really intrigued by Alonso becoming a Titan to replace the oft injured Colin "don't call me Joseph" McCarthy. He terrorized Russell Wilson in the 2012 Rose Bowl so much that Wilson probably still has nightmares about him. Oregon in terms of the draft, is more heavy towards the 2014 class. Kansas State features a good defense led by senior LB Arthur Brown. If you find the last name familiar, he's the older brother of the much traveled Bryce Brown. The Wildcats offense is the QB Collin Klein show. What's really ironic about this game is that K-State originally bought themselves out of playing Oregon during the regular season. They can't run and hide now.
