Super Bowl 2013: Date, time, odds, halftime show and more

Super Bowl Sunday will take place on February 3, 2013, in New Orleans, LA. The game kicks off at 6:30 EST/5:30 CST and will be televised on CBS.

This year's Super Bowl will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. This will be the tenth time that a Super Bowl has been hosted in New Orleans, which is the most for an individual city. New Orleans is tied with Miami for the metropolitan area that has hosted the most Super Bowls (10). The last time a Super Bowl was hosted in New Orleans was 2002.

One interesting note is that the 2013 Mardi Gras schedule for Orleans parish will be changed in light of the schedule. "With the 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans falling on what would be the first big parade weekend, the Carnival kickoff will start one week earlier," says the Times-Picayune. This time of year in New Orleans has the unfortunate nickname of "Super Gras."

CBS will televise the game in the United States; CTV in Canada; and by the BBC in the United Kingdom. As is the case seemingly every year, there will reportedly be a new record cost for a Super Bowl commercial: $4,000,000 for each thirty-second spot. A review of what companies are buying advertising this year can be found at AdAge.com.
