2013 ALLSTATE SUGAR BOWL
When: Wednesday Jan 2, 2013 8:30 PM ESPN
Where: New Orleans, LA Superdome
Teams: (21) Louisville vs (3) Florida
The upstart Cardinals take on the mighty Gators of Florida in New Orleans. Sophomore sensation and former Florida recruit QB Teddy Bridgewater looks to kick off his 2013 with a bang against a tough secondary featuring multiple draft prospects. Louisville Head Coach Charlie Strong faces his former team that he had great success with as an assistant under one Urban Meyer. Florida has its usual load of draft eligible talent coming into this game. The Gators offense is led by senior RB Mike Gillislee and OT Xavier Nelson. Junior TE Jordan Reed is also a big part of the offense directed by QB Jeff Driskell. The Gators defense features DE Shariff Floyd, DT Dominique Easley, LB Jelani Jenkins, LB Ronald Powell, and S Matt Elam. Out of the prospects on Florida's defense, Elam is expected to be drafted first. UF pretty much backed into this game via the rule that restricts one conference to two teams in a BCS bowl. Traditionally, the loser of the SEC Title game is the Sugar Bowl representative but thanks to this rule, UGA was left to the Capital One bowl even after beating the Gators in Jacksonville. I expect a Gator victory but Louisville will keep it interesting for a half or so before UF pulls away.
