Paul Kuharsky wrote a story yesterday about Derrick Morgan moving inside to rush the quarterback on passing downs when Akeem Ayers lines down at defensive end. While that sounds like a good idea that has a good chance to be effective, when do we start worrying that Morgan is just going to be a situational player?
Pannel Egboh has been getting a lot of reps with the first team. When Jerry Gray was asked about it last week he brushed it off by saying they were just trying to figure out what they have in Egboh.
That was a fine answer for a day or two, but it seems like Egboh has been getting more reps with the 1s for a week now- including in the scrimmage yesterday. That is a little bit more than trying to get a look.
Morgan came on at the end of last season, but he is dangerously close to getting the word bust attached to his name. The good news is there is still a lot of time for Morgan to prove that he can be an every down impact player. The bad news is that he hasn't clearly shown that already.
