So yesterday Michael Lombardi said on Inside Training Camp Live on the NFL Network that he had "learned" that Jake Locker was the favorite to win the Tennessee Titans quarterback battle. Of course that sent off a firestorm across the internet and prompted Chris Palmer to say something along the lines of that guy knows more than I do.

We will never really know who Lombardi spoke with to get the impression that Locker is the favorite, but the odds are really good that it did not come from anybody high up with the Titans. As one Titans source said to me yesterday, "they wouldn't say that to anyone 4 days in."

It is no secret that the Titans want Jake Locker to win the job. We have been over the reasons for that a million times, but anyone who has the power to actually make the decision, like Mike Munchak or Chris Palmer, isn't going to disrespect Matt Hasselbeck like that after saying over and over that it is a legitimate competition.

Lombardi probably just talked to someone with the organization that said the team wants Locker to win the job and made it into more than it actually was.
