Yesterday was a big day for the Titans as they finally got first-round pick Kendall Wright under contract. The team did blink as far as guaranteeing just north of 90% of the salary in the 4th year, but when all is said and done that won't really matter. The money will be the least of the concerns if he cannot play, and if he can play he will probably have a new deal by that point.
Chris Palmer was asked a lot of questions about Wright yesterday, and you can tell that he is really excited about Wright's prospects in this offense. Palmer mentioned that Wright will move around and play all of the positions, but I expect him to be playing Kenny Britt's position when the season starts because Britt isn't going to be out there when the season starts because of health and/or suspension.
The folks over at Mocking the Draft are buying the hype on Wright as well. They put him fifth on their top-5 candidates for offensive rookie of the year, and said he would be higher if he had a contract (obviously written before he signed):Kendall Wright would be a bit higher on this list if he had a contract. As of this writing, Wright is still unsigned. It's unfortunate, too, because Kenny Britt's legal issues and injury could really open the door for Wright to have a productive first year. But he has to be on the field, developing chemistry with his quarterback to do it.
