Trevor had said earlier today that he hear Michael Lombardi say on NFL Network that he had been told that Jake Locker is on the inside track to win the starting quarterback job for the Titans. Now these reports should always be taken with a grain of salt, but this would not be the first time Lombardi had good Titans information. He was all over the Vince Young stuff in that final year he was here.
It has been said before, but this competition is all about Locker. They know what they have in Matt Hasselbeck. He is a steady hand that understands where to go with the football, but having him under center really does limit the things that Chris Palmer wants to do.
If Locker can show them that he is mentally able to handle the whole offense, and that he has made the adjustments to his mechanics that are needed to improve his accuracy, there is no reason for them not to give him the job. There are just so many more possibilities to this offense with Locker calling the shots. He can throw the ball down the field much better than Hasselbeck, and his scrambling ability will open up lanes for Chris Johnson.
