Today was the first full OTA that was open to the media. So far there has not been a lot of news that has come out about what actually happened on the field. It has been more about what guys had to say after practice. Matt Hasselbeck talked after practice, and as we have come to expect from him, he said all of the right things. He is looking forward to the competition with Jake Locker.
Mike Munchak spoke after practice, and he said he would like to see the first team reps split 50/50 according to Jim Wyatt. Munch also said that having the competition between two good quarterbacks is a good thing:
"I feel so good about both of them I am not necessarily leaning either way on it. I feel like either way it is going to be a good situation for the team. It is a tough situation to be in when you draft a quarterback in the first round and if you just don’t hand him the job when he walks in the door you are going to have some tough decisions to make. We realize that. It is a good problem to have, but it is a tough one to have too."
Regardless of how this plays out, it is a much better situation than Young vs. Collins.
