The first thing that jumped out to me last night when I heard the Tennessee Titans 2012 schedule was how brutal the first four weeks of the season are. Three of the four teams the Titans play in the opening week were playoff teams in 2011. The one team that isn't is the Chargers, and the Titans have to go to San Diego to play them. That has been a house of horrors for this franchise.

That also means the Titans will see four Pro Bowl caliber quarterbacks in the first month of the season. (How did Matthew Stafford not make the Pro Bowl last season?) That will be a tough test for this defense.

If you want to look at things from a Vegas perspective, the Titans will probably not be favored to win any of the games in September.

On the flip side, it is probably better to play the Patriots in week 1 than week 10. That way you catch them before they have had too much time to gel.

While the trip to San Diego has not been kind to the Titans, the Chargers might not be that good this season. That is a winnable game.

Gramsey told me this morning all we have to do to beat the Lions is shutdown Calvin Johnson. That seems easy enough, right?

Then comes the trip to Houston. That is going to be a really huge game for this team. The Texans are going to be the favorites to win the AFC South again in 2012. A win in that game would set the Titans up nicely for an easier part off the schedule.

Of course they will never admit this, but the Titans would be thrilled to come out of September 2-2.
