Todd McShay 2012 NFL Mock Draft; Titans and Nick Perry

Just like in Mel Kiper's last mock draft, Todd McShay has the Titans taking Nick Perry, DE, USC with the 20th pick in his latest mock draft (In$ider). Again, the Perry pick is becoming very popular because right now it is widely considered that the Titans will take the best pass rusher available. We will see how that changes through free agency.

Here is what McShay had to say about the pick:

The Titans have three defensive ends set to become free agents and need a dynamic pass-rusher to complement Derrick Morgan. While Perry is raw, he has good initial burst and natural pass-rush skills. Cornerback, safety and offensive line are also need areas, but Perry makes the most sense in this situation.

Here are a couple of interesting things from that mock:

  • McShay has Janoris Jenkins going ahead of Dre Kirkpatrick. That is the first time I have seen that happen, but don't be surprised if it happens on draft day. Jenkins is a better cover corner than Kirkpatrick, and now they both have "character concerns."
  • He does not have Alshon Jeffery going in the first round. If that is actually the case, the Titans should get on the phone with every team before them in the second round to try and move up and pick him. I am telling you, Jeffery is going to be a stud. He would be really scary opposite Kenny Britt with Jake Locker throwing them the ball and Nate Washington in the slot.
  • Riley Reiff at #3 is absurd.
