2012 NFL Mock Draft: The Titans and Peter Konz

Rob Lownes of Draft Breakdown has put out a three round mock draft. He has the Titans taking Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin in the first round. I am more on board with Konz at #20 than David DeCastro, but I would still much rather see them take Mark Barron there.

Here is what Lownes had to say about the pick:

There may have not been an offensive line around the NFL whose performance was as disappointing as the Titans’ during the 2011 season. All-Pro running back Chris Johnson was unable to find much in terms of running room as Tennessee finished just 31st in the league in rushing yards. Much of the blame rests on the shoulders of the interior offensive line. Peter Konz is a blue-chip center prospect capable of entering the lineup immediately and providing a substantial upgrade over Eugene Amano. If the Titans pass on offensive line help, safety Mark Barron and linebacker Luke Kuechly also could fill holes.

The only point that I disagree with there is that Luke Kuechly could be an option for the Titans.

He had the Titans taking Cam Johnson with the 52nd pick:
Sack numbers dropped off severely in Tennessee last season following the loss of Pro Bowler Jason Babin. In Cam Johnson, the Titans get one of the most athletic edge rushers in this draft.

Johnson is a guy that Wes Bunting mentioned on MCM Radio as being one of the most underrated players in this draft.

He then had the Titans taking Travis Lewis, OLB, Oklahoma in the third round. August thinks they should take Casey Heyward.
