Titans TE Jared Cook Out for Season

Mike Munchak announced today that Jared Cook will miss the rest of the season with a torn rotator cuff.

USA TODAY Sports

Mike Munchak announced at his press conference today that tight end Jared Cook has been placed on IR because he tore his rotator cuff. He will have to have season ending surgery. It really is amazing how many injuries the Titans have suffered in the last couple of weeks.

This brings up an interesting situation for the Titans heading into the offseason. Cook's contract is up at the end of the year, and they have to decide if they are going to invest in him for the long term. He has clearly shown that he has the ability to be a special player, but he has never consistently produced.

My guess is still that they end up using the franchise tag on him. He is too risky to invest a lot of money in, but you can't let someone with his talent walk for nothing before you know for sure if he can ever put it all together.

The Titans have show in the past that they have no problem overpaying a tight end. They franchised Bo Scaife twice. TWICE!
