Time for Bud Adams to Get Some Bite Behind His Bark

Bud Adams, once again, is saying that changes might be made. It is time for him to step up and make them.

*WARNING* This post is going to be extremely negative, so if you came here today expecting sunshine and roses you better just keep it moving. That performance yesterday was the most embarrassing display of football since the Boston Masacre and it is time for real changes to be made. That is going to be the tone of this blog for the next week. Just a quick heads up.

Bud Adams told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean this yesterday after witnessing the beatdown:

"In my 50 years of owning an NFL franchise, I am at a loss to recall a regular-season home game that was such a disappointment for myself and fans of the Titans,’’ Adams told The Tennessean. "We were grossly outcoached and outplayed from start to finish today.

"At this time, all aspects of the organization will be closely evaluated, including front office, coaches and players, over the next seven games. If performanceand competitiveness does not improve, I will look at all alternatives to get back to having the Titans become a playoff and championship football team."

We have heard this from Bud Adams before, and he has never actually followed through with any changes. He better this time. Mike Munchak was supposed to bring accountability and discipline to this team. He famously had the slogan, "Be a pro. Do your job." hung up all over the locker room, but this team doesn't look any different than the undisciplined Jeff Fisher teams we saw at the end of Fisher's tenure.

So something has to change, and it starts with Mike Munchak. I am not saying fire him now, but it needs to be done at the end of the year if something doesn't change- and there is no reason to believe it will. Both coordinators absolutely have to be gone, and Munch isn't going to be able to get anybody in here worth anything in a lame duck year next year. That means the team will be bad again next year, and then you have to start all over, again.

Why not just go ahead and get that process started at the end of this season. I don't want any holdovers from this staff. Munch tried to keep some of the guys in place to help with continuity, and it looks exactly the same as it did before.

For those of you who have been here for a while, you know that I am not a #fireeverybody type of guy. I bought a "Keep Coach Fisher" shirt back in 2006 when half of the fanbase wanted him gone, but I am sick and tired of seeing the same noncompetitive, undisciplined time year in and year out. It is time for a major change.
