The Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that they have placed Blaine Gabbert on IR, ending his season. I never wish an injury on anyone, especially Gabbert, because the Titans would have greatly benefited from getting to face him twice this year.
This really is a tough deal for Jacksonville because now they really are going to have to make a decision on his future based just on the body of work they have seen from him so far. They are going to have a really high pick in this year's draft, possibly #1 overall, and they are going to have a decision to make. I hate it for them (not really).
The Jags also placed Laurent Robinson on IR today. They paid him a handsome sum of money in the offseason and have not really gotten the results they hoped for out of him. It is generally not a good idea to give big money to a free agent receiver who was the #3 option on his former team unless that player is Nate Washington.
