Jake Locker Officially Out Sunday Against the Vikings

Don McPeak-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Titans' beat writers are reporting that Mike Munchak said after practice today that Jake Locker will be out this week against the Minnesota Vikings. This has been widely speculated since Monday night, but Munch went ahead and made it official today after practice. That obviously means that Matt Hasselbeck will be the starter and Rusty Smith will be the back-up.

While I am a little bit surprised that they went ahead and declared it today, it is not surprising that Locker will not be able to go. Coach Munchak said they have not made a decision on Locker past this week, but I would be really surprised if he played next Thursday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hasselbeck will get the full reps with the first team offense this week. Hopefully that will lead to a better performance that we saw from him on Sunday in Houston.

Other interesting practice notes:

-Colin McCarthy was a full participant in today's practice and is expected to play.

-Kenny Britt only participated in individual drills. My guess is that he will not be available this week, but there was no official word on that.
