Report: Jerry Gray to Interview for the Tampa Bay Job

Jim Wyatt just tweeted that the St. Petersburg times is reporting that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wants to interview Jerry Gray for their vacant head coaching position. Wyatt also says that the Buccaneers have not yet asked the Titans for permission to speak to Gray.

It is interesting to me that the Bucs want to talk to Gray. He does not have any ties there that I know of, and while he did a nice job here this season, it is not like he had a top 10 defense.

The skeptic in me says that he is just who they have identified as their interview to satisfy the requirements of the Rooney Rule. I hope that is not the case because that isn't fair to Gray.

In other coaching news, the Chargers have just announced that they are keeping Norv Turner and A.J. Smith. That means that the job we have all assumed Jeff Fisher would get will not be open.
