We covered it somewhat on MCM Radio last night, but it's worth another mention: The Titans added Keith Millard as an assistant coach/pass rush specialist. Millard, who had a stellar career as a pass rushing DT, will help all levels of the defense develop better techniques for rushing the passer. This could be a big addition for the defense, since they struggled mightily to bring consistent pressure in 2011. Rushing the passer is an essential part of any good NFL defense, so bringing in a guy who specialized in coaching that skill makes a lot of sense.
Ruston Webster and the Titans' scouts are getting a good look at some of this year's top draft prospects at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
Another thing Jimmy and I discussed last night: Should the Titans pony up for Mario Williams if the Texans let him walk? It'll take a pretty big contract to get Williams signed, but I don't see anyone else in FA or the draft that could come close to making the instant impact Williams could make on this defensive line. I doubt we do it, but I'd love for it to work out.
Speaking of potential free agents, the Falcons are expected by many observers to let Brent Grimes walk because they're already spending big at the CB spot thanks to Dunta Robinson.
Jeff Fisher has settled on Brian Schottenheimer as his offensive coordinator, which means Dowell Loggains is pretty much a lock to stay in Tennessee.
FO takes stock of the Super Bowl match-up, and dissects he differences between these teams, and the Giants/Patriots teams that met in the Super Bowl four years ago.
Not Titans related, but I thought this was the most interesting NFL story I saw this morning: it turns out that Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff was late getting on the field because the scoreboard in Gillette Stadium was behind by one down, so Cundiff thought it was third down. Classic Bilicheat!
