The Jacksonville Jaguars have named Mike Mularkey their head coach according to multiple reports tonight. Mularkey will do his best to develop Blaine Gabbert into a real-life NFL quarterback. Good luck with that, Mike. Most people seem to think that Mularkey will keep Mel Tucker on as his defensive coordinator.
This is Mularkey's second stint as a head coach. He was the head coach in Buffalo in 2004 and 2005. The Bills were 9-7 in his first season, and 5-11 in his second season. He re-signed after the 2005 season because he could not get along with Marv Levy.
It will be interesting to see who he hires as his offensive coordinator, but there is no doubt that both guys will only be as successful as Blaine Gabbert is. Again, good luck with that.
Don't be surprised to see the Jaguars take Alshon Jeffery with their first pick in April's draft. Mularkey should at least be smart enough to know that Gabbert needs someone to throw too.
