As we predicted the Titans reached out to Justin Gage in an effort to sign him, but as nobody predicted Gage turned the Titans down (apparently over money). That is simply stunning. Frankly I think it could be better for us if the Titans take a shot on someone who is out there and hungry, rather than a guy who seems to have his value to the NFL way out of whack, and probably wouldn't be here for the right reasons.
The scribes a Football Outsiders released the updated DVOA rankings, and it's an uplifting juxtaposition to the depressing Chris Johnson factoids from yesterday. The Titans are 8th in offense and 1st in defense in the NFL. At least that's a good sign for the defense, who shouldn't just tank with Britt's injury. As long as the offense can sustain a few drives (note to Palmer: that does NOT mean calling run, run, checkdown pass) and keep the defense rested, maybe they'll smooth over the rough spots that Britt's absence will bring up.
The Titans worked out a bevy of free agent WRs yesterday, including David Clowney, Mardy Gilyard, Johnnie Lee Higgins, Tiquan Underwood and Buster Davis.
About 1 in 4 QBs in the NFL are on track to break or approach Dan Marino's single-season yardage record.
Nate Washington is the subject of a whole heap of praise from Pro Football Weekly, and they managed to score a quick interview with the wide receiver on what has changed for him this season:
"Totally different focus this year," he said. "With the new coaching staff coming in and the new organizational look that we have, I think a lot of things have changed. And with that being said, I had a lot of different things about my game that I wanted to change."
David Climer dives into the Titans' WR Curse. No need to bring your tinfoil hat for this one, as the curse is now a certifiable science fact.
The Tennessean. The Titans. 5 things.
