Week 2 NFL Picks Against the Spread

I am terrible at picking NFL games, so why not write a post where I pick the games, right? You can tell me where I am crazy, and we will review them at some point next week. In these posts I will be picking against the spread because I am not a sissy like those of you who voted against using the spread for the MCM Pick'em league.

Buffalo -3.5 vs. Oakland

The NFL didn't do Oakland any favors when they had them open with the late Monday night game to turn around and travel across the country to Buffalo the next week. The Bills cover easily in this one.

Carolina vs. Green Bay -10

Cam Newton was impressive in his first start, but the Green Bay defense is a lot better than Arizona's. The Packers win and cover here.

Detroit -8.5 vs. Kansas City

The Chiefs are an 8 1/2 point dog at the Lions. The Lions, who are my second favorite team, will win this one but it will be close. Take Detroit to win but not cover.

Indianapolis vs. Cleveland -2.5

The Colts are a two point underdog to the Browns at home. I bet you never thought you would read that sentence. I have a good feeling about Old Man River this week. I will take the Colts to win.

Minnesota vs. Tampa Bay +3

Minnesota passed for less than a 100 yards last week, but somehow they are favored by three against the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay's defense is a little shaky, but they are good on offense. I am taking the Bucs to win this game outright.

New Orleans vs. Chicago +7

New Orleans needs a bounce back game after the opener, and they get it this week.  Cutler throws a late pick-six to give the Saints a 10-point win.

New York Jets -9 vs. Jacksonville

As long as the Jets can score 9 in this one they will cover because Luke McCown won't find this week as easy as last.

Pittsburgh -14.5 vs. Seattle

The Steelers will cover easily with their defense outscoring Seattle's offense.

Tennessee vs. Baltimore -6.5

I would like to pick with my heart here, but my head tells me the Ravens win by at least 10.

Washington -4 vs. Arizona

This game will be high scoring, and Rex Grossman will lead the Skins to an easy cover.

San Francisco vs. Dallas -3

With Suck for Luck in full swing in San Francisco, the Cowboys come in and win by two touchdowns.

Denver -3 vs. Cincinnati

I see Kyle Orton leading a final drive while the crowd chants for Tim Tebow.  The Broncos win but don't cover.

Miami vs. Houston -3

I hate the Texans with all of my being, but I see them going down there and winning this game pretty easily.  Take the Texans to cover.

New England -7 vs. San Diego

This is an intriguing game.  That trip across the country is never easy, so I am picking the Pats to cover, but it should be a really fun game to watch.

Atlanta +3 vs. Philadelphia

Atlanta has a lot to prove after being a Super Bowl pick from a lot of people and then laying an egg in week 1.  I think the Falcons get back on track with a win in this one.

New York Giants vs. St. Louis +7

This is another rebound game, and the Giants will do just that with a win, but they won't cover.
