I have been a big fan of Michael Lombardi ever since his rant about Vince Young not deserving to be called VY. I like him even more now that the is picking the Tennessee Titans to win the AFC South. Of course, that prediction would make me feel better if he hadn't picked the Redskins to win the NFC East right above.
Here is something from Lombardi's article that I did not realize:
Sure, it's the Texans that have one of the most explosive offenses in football. But look at the numbers. The Texans averaged 24 points per game last year; the Titans, with all their problems at quarterback, still averaged 22. This season, with a proven quarterback in Matthew Hasselbeck, Tennessee's offensive production is sure to improve
The Titans were scoring points in bunches early in the season, but I had no idea they ended the season averaging just 2 points less than the might Houston Texans offense.
Rest assured that this offense is going to be better than last year's because they have a competent quarterback at the helm, are going to actually throw the ball to Jared Cook, and might even mix in a screen.
