Mike Reinfeldt was asked today about Cortland Finnegan leaving camp last night. Of course this is only one side of the story, but he says that the negotiations were ongoing and that Finny left without warning.
Here is his opening statement and a follow up question:
Cortland Finnegan left camp last night. We have tried to call him. We have not been able to get in touch with him. It is a tough situation. We have 23 guys in the last year of their contract. I talked to Cortland during the week. Coach Munchak did. We talked to his agent and made an offer. They made a counter offer. We were totally surprised that he turned around and left camp.Reinfeldt said again that he isn't going to negotiate with anyone that isn't in camp. Are you shocked this all happened?
Yeah. We received an offer from them around 5:00 last night that we told them we would review and get back to them on Monday.
He was also asked about Chris Johnson and said there wasn't much new to report. Reinfeldt did mention that they have offered to negotiate with him if he will come and attend meetings without practicing. Johnson's camp apparently isn't interested in that right now.
