ATTENTION TITANS NATION: Last Night's Performance Doesn't Mean They Don't Need CJ

Paul Kuharsky does this thing on the radio here called the megaphone. Whenever he wants everyone to really pay attention to what he is about to say he cups his hands around the microphone to give the megaphone effect. After last night's rushing performance by guys like Jamie Harper and Stafon Johnson my Twitter feed is full of people telling me that the Tennessee Titans no longer need CJ2K, so if I may borrow his megaphone:

ATTENTION TITANS NATION- THE FACT THAT TWO RUNNING BACKS LOOKED REALLY GOOD IN A PRESEASON GAME HAS NO EFFECT ON WHETHER OR NOT THE TITANS NEED CHRIS JOHNSON. JOHNSON IS THE BEST RUNNING BACK IN THE GAME, AND THERE ISN'T ANYONE ON THIS TEAM WHO CAN REPLACE HIM.

Now I feel better. Look, I am as happy as anyone that the Titans look like they have a couple of guys on the roster that look like they can be solid NFL running backs, but they are not going to replace what CJ gives this team because 1. Defenses will not be scheming to stop Javon Ringer and Harper. 2. The threat of Ringer and Harper in the backfield doesn't open things up for guys on the outside at all. 3. The screen pass that Harper picked up 20+ on, Johnson could have taken to the house. You simply cannot replace what Johnson brings to this offense.

Does that mean they should match what the Cardinals gave Larry Fitzgerald? Absolutely not, but let's not think that the Titans suddenly have the upper hand because a couple of guys ran well in a preseason game.
