The Ten Most Important Tennessee Titans in 2011: #4 Michael Griffin

Michael Griffin has played at both ends of the spectrum since the Titans drafted him back in 2007. In 2008 he had 7 interceptions, made the Pro Bowl, and was considered a rising star in the NFL. Then in 2009 Pro Football Focus graded him as the worst safety in the NFL. He started off pretty hot in 2010 but tailed off at the end of the season.

The defense really does seem to play as Griffin does, and that is why he is such an important piece of the Titans puzzle in 2011. There is no doubt that he has the ability to carry the secondary on his shoulders, but in the past he has allowed off the field distractions to cripple his play on the field.

It really looked at times over the past couple of years that at times he was playing like he didn't trust the scheme. I am hoping that the addition of Jerry Gray as the defensive coordinator is going to be a huge positive for Griff.
