Cortland Finnegan has really stepped up as a leader this offseason. He was the one that made it possible for the players to workout at Father Ryan High School here in Nashville during the lockout, and he is the one who put together the mini-camp that brought a lot of the roster together for a couple of days. This team needs leaders and hopefully Finny is ready to step up and be one.
The leadership thing is very important, but even more important is Finnegan's play on the field. Two years ago he was in the conversation as one of the best corners in the league. Last year he didn't play as well after receiving a letter from the commissioner's office that he was dangerously close to being suspended for his antics on the field.
2011 is a contract year for Finnegan. I have never seen Cortland as a guy that is only motivated by the money. It is pretty obvious that he plays because he loves the game, but it can't hurt that he will be playing for his next contract.
I expect a bounce back year from Finny. His skills didn't disappear overnight.
