Pro Football Focus put out a list today of the best running backs in the NFL over the last three years. Chris Johnson ranked 5th on the list with a score of +20.78. Keep in mind here that these rankings take into account every job a running back has, although they say for this list everything besides actually running the ball was only given 3/4 weight.

Here was the commentary in regards to CJ:

A bit low for some after his amazing ’09 season, Johnson was just behind Peterson in the running back rankings, but like Peterson, Johnson lets himself down with his receiving and blocking. The Titans really should have found a way to get him out of pass blocking situations by now, he really doesn’t do a good job holding up blitzers. He is a threat every time he touches the ball, but doesn’t need to be in on every play.

I agree that CJ's receiving skills aren't that good, but is he bad in pass protection? I guess I need to go back and watch some games, but I don't remember a lot of instances where he missed blocks.

They can grade him however they please, but the fact of the matter is that he is the most dangerous running back in the NFL when he touches the ball.
