NFL Rookie Symposium Back On Courtesy Of The NFLPA

SI is reporting that the NFLPA is going to put on an event to take the place of the NFL Rookie Symposium that the league cancelled last week. The group formerly known as the NFLPA will cover the costs of travel and lodging for the event. The event will be called "The Business of Football: Rookie Edition" and will be held June 28-29 in Washington, D.C. according to George Atallah, the assistant executive director of external affairs for the Players Association. Here is what Atallah had to say about the event:

"It was important for us to do this because it's a critical time in the lives of players who are about to enter the league," Atallah said. "Lockout issues aside, it's important that players are prepared for this next phase in their lives and careers."

I think this is a really good idea. The event will be open to all players who were drafted last month. There was talk when the original event was cancelled that it wasn't that big of a deal because most guys don't pay attention anyway, but some guys will and it will really benefit them.
