Titans Safety Michael Griffin Sixth On ESPN Power Rankings

ESPN.com has been doing position by position power rankings for a few weeks now. Today they released their safety power rankings, and Titans S Michael Griffin was ranked sixth.  Griff is quite the enigma.  I can't ever remember another player on the Titans that at times has looked like one of the best players in the league at his position but at other times has looked like the worst.

Paul Kuharksy, who covers the division for ESPN.com and had a vote in the rankings, didn't have Griffin in his top 10.  Here was his reasoning:

"Griffin can be very good, but he's very inconsistent. He went to the Pro Bowl in 2008, then had a terrible 2009: Bad angles and missed tackles galore. In 2010, he rebounded, played well during the Titans' good start and seemed to be back on track. Then he was a big contributor to the brutal finish. He can let off-the-field stuff distract him and handles criticism horribly."

It is hard to argue with that.

I have a feeling Jerry Gray is going to be very good for Griff. Gray was the secondary coach here and helped players like current secondary coach Marcus Robertson and Blaine Bishop become great players.

NewsToTom is irate that his boy Chris Hope was left off the list.
