Over the next few weeks heading up to the draft we will be highlighting the biggest busts and greatest picks in the history of the Titans. I have decided to only look at the picks the franchise has made since the move to Tennessee instead of trying to look back at the entire history of the franchise.
Before you get all up in arms about this one, think about this: Steve McNair was also the third overall pick in the draft. A career like that is what you should expect when you pick a QB third in the draft.
You don't draft a QB at 3rd overall just for him to win Rookie of the Year and make 2 gift Pro Bowls. I understand VY did some good things on the field, and at times looked like he could be a special player, but his lasting legacy here will be as a bust. He never won a playoff game, and the only season the Titans made the playoffs with him at the helm he threw 9 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, so he never led this team to the playoffs. Never- and the last thing he ever did as a Titan was throw his pads in the stands.
Missing on a quarterback like this can set your franchise back 5 years. Just look at the situation the Titans are in right now. They are forced to spend another high pick on a quarterback in a year when they have so many other needs just because Vince was bust.
