NFP Mock Draft: The Titans and LSU CB Patrick Peterson

Yesterday I saw the first mock draft where A.J. Green fell to the Titans.  Today at NFP is the first one where Patrick Peterson falls to the Titans:

8. Tennessee Titans: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
Defensive back might not be the biggest of needs for the Titans at eight. However, Peterson is the one potential blue-chip prospect left and is a real value at this stage.

And trevor rejoices.  Seriously though, this would be an awesome scenario for the Titans.  Some are asking if Peterson is the best player in this draft.  I don't know the answer to that question, but if you can get a guy at #8 that is in that conversation you have to be pleased.

Peterson is a physical specimen at 6-0 219, and he ran a 4.34 40 at the combine.  He is the type of corner that can lock down one side of the field and allow a defensive coordinator to dial up a lot more blitzes.  Gregg Williams ran that type of defense when he was here because he had Samari Rolle.  Jerry Gray sounds like he wants to run the same type of scheme, but you can't do it if you don't have the corners that allow it.  Peterson would be a huge step in that direction.
