NFLPA Tells Prospects to Boycott the Draft

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the NFLPA is now telling their players to boycott the 2011 NFL draft:

The NFL Players Association is putting into place a plan that would prevent each top college prospect from attending next month's draft in New York, according to multiple league sources. The NFLPA already has contacted 17 top prospects that ordinarily would have received an invitation to attend the draft and informed them not to go.

It really stinks for the guys that would be top picks in this draft because they aren't going to get that memory of being there when the commissioner calls their name.  I guess they could ignore the request from the NFLPA and go to the draft anyway, but that wouldn't go over so well with their future teammates whenever the lockout is over and they have to report to camp.

Another interesting point in the story linked above is that the NFLPA could try to block the guys being drafted from appearing on the NFL Network for interviews after they are selected.  The story says they could end up doing it on a social networking platform only.
