Will Jerry Gray Be the Titans Defensive Coordinator?

There are multiple outlets out there reporting that Mike Munchak has his sights set on Jerry Gray to be the Titans next defensive coordinator. Gray is currently the defensive backs coach with the Texas Longhorns. He hasn't even coached a game there as he was just hired by Mack Brown on January 17th. Gray was a coach here under Gregg Williams from 1997-2001 before he went with William to Buffalo to be his DC. He held that post in Buffalo from 2001-2005.

The thing that concerns me is that he has bounced around the league as a defensive backs coach since 2005 but hasn't had another coordinator job.

The upside on Gray is that Munch wouldn't have to go through the process of requesting permission to talk to him because he is at the college level. It could be something that gets done pretty quickly. Paul Kuharsky also mentioned on the radio this morning that he was thought very highly of by the defensive backs that played under him for the Oilers/Titans.

Gray also played in the NFL from 1985-1993 with the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Oilers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a 4-time Pro Bowler.
