Cam Newton announced yesterday that he will participate fully at the NFL Combine.  As much as I don't want the Titans to draft Newton, his pre-draft strategy has been pretty good.  The media workout was ridiculous, but it created a buzz about how good his arm is.  He has been taking advice from Warren Moon which is an extremely smart move, and now he is going to fully participate at the combine.

Matt Bowen of NFP had this to say about Newton's decision to throw at the combine:

....throwing in front of the entire league carries weight in the process also. I was quick to downplay the hype coming out of his own engineered workout in front of the media because I don’t see how that compares to the competitive environment of Indy. I never will, because the combine is the ultimate job interview in sports. Do it there—under the NFL’s roof. It isn’t easy to produce under the stress of the combine, but that is exactly how the NFL wants it to be.

On the other hand, Blaine Gabbert has decided that he will not throw at the combine.  It seems to me like he would want the chance to go toe to toe with Newton and prove that he is better, but he has decided to wait until his pro day which will be March 17th.
