Titans Coaching Search: Gregg Williams to Interview

Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is scheduled to interview for the Titans head coaching job Thursday.less than a minute ago via ÜberTwitter

After interviewing only candidates within the organization to this point, the Titans are reportedly planning to interview current New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. Williams was the defensive coordinator for the Titans from 1997-2000, and the head coach of the Buffalo Bills for the next three seasons before taking defensive coordinator jobs with the Redskins, Jaguars, and Saints. He still owns a house in Middle Tennessee. Read Jimmy's profile on Williams here.

To this point, the Titans have reportedly reached out to Mike Munchak, Mike Heimerdinger, Mike Mularkey, and Gregg Williams. A candidate to fulfill the Rooney Rule has yet to be announced. With two outside candidates being announced, it makes you wonder if maybe Munchak's interview on Monday was not as impressive as the Titans hoped it would be. If Munchak really was a shoe-in like it was reported, I don't think they would even reach out to guys like Williams and Mularkey, and they would have gotten the Rooney Rule taken care of with Ray Sherman.
