Bush will try to improve what was probably the weakest spot of the Titans defense last year. Stephen Tulloch was the team's leading linebacker, second in the NFL in tackles, but there is a good possibility that Tulloch will leave in free agency.Gerald McRath and Will Witherspoon did not live up to offseason expectations.
Surprise, surprise: Bush played for the Oilers at linebacker from 1985-1986. He started his coaching career with the Oilers in 1987 as a college scout, and in 1992 was promoted to linebackers coach with the team. He was then the linebackers coach for the Denver Broncos under Mike Shanahan from 1995-2003, where he won two Super Bowls. After being moved to special teams coach for three seasons, he joined the Cardinals for three seasons at linebackers coach. For the last four years, Bush has been with the Texans, the last two at defensive coordinator. He was fired this offseason after coaching one of the worst defenses in NFL history.
Dave McGinnis, whom Bush will be replacing, may remain on the team as assistant head coach. Wide receiver and running back coach openings remain.
