Todd McShay Mock Draft 3.0: The Titans and Prince Amukamara

Todd McShay has released his 3rd mock draft of the season (In$ider), and he has the Titans taking Nebraska CB Price Amukamara:

Quarterback is obviously the biggest need, but the Titans can't afford to gamble on Cam Newton or Jake Locker here. Look for them to bring in a veteran signal-caller and use a Day 2 pick on a quarterback to develop such as Arkansas' Ryan Mallett or TCU's Andy Dalton. This franchise has had too many disappointing first-rounders over the years, and taking Amukamara -- the top athlete on the board and one of the hardest workers in the 2011 class -- would be a strong building block for new head coach Mike Munchak.

This pick just really doesn't make any sense to me- for a couple of reasons. First, as I wrote yesterday, a lot of people think Price will be a free safety at the NFL level, so why would the Titans use a top 10 pick on him when they already have Michael Griffin? Second, it is always nice to have a lot of corners, but there is no guarantee that Amukamara would even start for the Titans if he stays at corner. Do we really think he is going to come in and be better than at least two of the Cortland Finnegan, Alterraun Verner, Jason McCourty group? I don't.

It is also worth noting that McShay has Da'Quan Bowers going to the Panthers with the first pick and Von Miller going to the Bills third. That is the higest I have seen either of them coming off the board, and really the first place I have seen the Panthers taking Bowers.
