I feel like we haven't really talked about the 2010 quarterbacks much on the site, so I am not sure where everyone feels like we are at the position. Right now the Titans have Rusty Smith under contract. That is all. No reason not to feel good about that, right?
In all seriousness, no position was more up and down than the quarterback position on the roster. At 5-2 Vince Young had one hiccup, but he was looking like he had finally turned the corner. Kerry Collins had relieved VY in one of those games and started another, Jacksonville and Philadelphia respectively, and played pretty well. Then it all went downhill. The Miami game was just weird. Collins started after Vince had a full practice on Thursday but was backed down on Friday. Kerry got hurt right before halftime, and Young came in the second half and didn't look the least bit injured. The the Redskins came to Nashville...
Vince Young
There really isn't a whole lot to say about Vince that hasn't already been covered on the site. He proved this year that he just isn't ready to be an NFL QB. He will get a shot with another team, and he will be out of excuses.
Kerry Collins
At this point Collins is what he is. He isn't a bad guy to fill in for a very short period of time, but he can't stay healthy and he just doesn't have the arm strength anymore.
Rusty Smith
I will never forget the one week we got excited about Rusty. Somehow I had tricked myself into thinking that the fact that Rusty was at the facility at 7 AM on Monday morning meant that he could be a good quarterback. Then he went out and laid an egg against the Houston pass defense that was one of the worst in history.
Chris Simms finished the season on the roster, but he is irrelevant.
In case you didn' t know it already, the Titans need a QB.
