Nothing has been scheduled for Ray Sherman to interview with #Titans and looking like it won't happen. Sherman still hasn't been contacted
We had a lot of discussion yesterday about Ray Sherman, but now it is looking like he might not even interview. This means the Titans will still have to find a minority candidate to interview before they can give the job to anyone. I still hope that guy is Perry Fewell, but there have been no indications that he has been contacted. There is also the chance that Fewell wouldn't want to interview with it already being reported that Mike Munchak is the favorite for the job.
That post also lead to some good discussion about the Rooney Rule. I think the results of the Rooney Rule are mixed. Hal came with the statistics that 22% of the coaches in the league are minorities now. That is up from 6% from before the rule was implemented. It is obviously working to get more minorities hired, but I hate the situations where it is obvious who the team wants to hire, and they bring in a minority candidate for a token interview. I don't think that is fair to the guy being brought in. I am not really sure there is anyway to correct that though.
All of that being said, it is going to be interesting to see who the guy is the Titans bring in. John McClain said this morning on Twitter that the NFL doesn't want teams making big announcements during Super Bowl week, so there is a pretty good chance we wont officially know who the coach is until next week.
