Mike Munchak Puts an End to the Penn State Rumors

Jim Wyatt has done a fantastic job on this story today. He has talked to Mike Munchak this morning, and Munchak told Wyatt that he has no interest in the Penn State job:

"I have a great deal of respect for Penn St and I hope they find a great coach there," Munchak said. "But I am happy where I’m at. I love my alma mater, but I have no interest in being the head coach at Penn State. I never want to leave Tennessee.

"It is not like I’m saying I want nothing to do with Penn State My point is I have no interest in being the head coach there," Munchak said. "Hopefully this will be the end of all the speculation. Most of it never comes true anyway."

Munchak also told Wyatt he has not talked to anyone at the school about the coaching search.

Now as Yogi Berra said, it is never over until it is over, but I don't see any reason not to take Munch at his word here. I know there are a million examples of coaches who have denied an interest in a job to turn around and take it days later, but I chose to believe Munchak until he gives me a reason not too.
