I am trying to figure out if I am surprised by the Titans 3-1 start. When I looked at the schedule after the preseason, I thought 3-1 was a real possibility, but there was also a part of me that thought that was just me being optimistic.
For me the more surprising part is how the Titans got to 3-1. They laid and egg in Jacksonville, a game I thought was crucial for a 3-1 start, but came back to dominate the Ravens.
The other surprising thing is the way they are winning games- by throwing the ball and playing defense. Before the season started I thought the offense, and the team for that matter, was only going to go as far as Chris Johnson would take them. So far they have been able to win games without CJ finding the end zone.
Joel Thorman over at SBNation.com has this to say about the Titans in his week 4 wrap-up:
Don't forget about the Titans either. Somehow, I've been overlooking the Titans as they move to 3-1 on the season. They're winning this season in a way few of us thought they would -- through the air. Chris Johnson is averaging less than three yards per carry and the Titans have won three of four games this year. Does anything make sense anymore?
At the end of the day it doesn't matter how they win games as long as they win them. My hope is that we continue to see progress every week.
