Here are Chris Johnson's quotes from after the game today via Jim Wyatt's Twitter:
If u are watching the game and u can’t tell what's going on with the run game then I'd say u really don’t know football. I am just getting the ball and running hard and doing what I have been doing since I got here, reading my reads. I wouldn’t say I am the issue. I'm very confident I've been doing the things .. I do. I can’t do nothing but keep working hard.
Let me start by saying that the offensive line is bad at run blocking.
However, Chris Johnson is a huge part of the problem. I can think of at least three times in the game today where he had the ball in space and could not make a play. There was one play, I can't remember if it was a swing pass or a run, but he was one on one against a defensive end and couldn't make him miss. That is on you CJ.
The only thing that makes Chris Johnson a good running back is that he can run away from guys. I am not sure if he is even very elusive. He isn't running away from guys this year.
Johnson also needs to learn that the focus is going to be on him when he holds out through training camp asking for playmaker money. Let me tell you something Chris, "playmakers" create a lot of things on there own. You aren't doing that right now. I know there aren't that many holes out there, but there are still chances for plays to be made.
It would probably be in his best interest to shut his mouth. I can't understand why he is too proud to just keep saying we will keep plugging away until we get this thing figured out.
There are a lot of problems with the run game. Johnson is definitely one of them.
