Jeff Fisher Watch Day Two

Yesterday actually ended up being a pretty uneventful day on the decisions that Bud Adams has to make eventually as far as Jeff Fisher and Vince Young are concerned.  He released a statement that didn't really say anything, and Fisher had a press conference where he didn't really say anything.  At this point all we have is speculation, and the popular speculation is that Bud wants both to stay and work it out but has been told that won't happen.  The ball is now in his court to determine if he will trust what his people are telling him or go out on his own.  That is why nothing has actually been decided yet.

Jim Wyatt tweeted today that he thinks a decision will be made by the end of the week.  The sooner the better because this team needs to start evaluating where they are, and where they want to go in free agency, the draft, etc.  There also need to be decisions made about the staff because I really can't see a scenario where Chuck Cecil will come back as the defensive coordinator.  So if Fisher is going to be the guy making that decision, which he will be if he is still the coach, he needs to be able to go ahead with it in order to get in the mix for a new defensive coordinator.

As far as defensive coordinator is concerned, Fisher could go with the choice he probably should have made two years ago an promote Dave McGinnis.  Mike Singletary is another name that could be in the mix.  He had some issues as a head coach, but he has proven that he is a good defensive mind.  I have no idea if he and Fisher are friends or not, but they were on the 1985 Bears Super Bowl Champions team together so they at least know each other.

If the decision is going to be to fire Fisher it needs to be done quickly so they can get in the mix for the best coaching candidates on the market. *cough* Jim Harbaugh *cough* I expect Fisher to be back, but that is not a certainty at this point.  Hopefully it all gets resolved in the next couple of days.
