Justin Gage may have ligament damage to his thumb, which puts his status for Monday night in question. Gage sat out yesterday and probably won't practice anytime soon. In better news though, Jared Cook had a stellar practice yesterday and Stanford Keglar returned to practice.
This week's jam goes out to fans of a certain terrible baseball team, which currently trails my beloved blown-up Astros by four games. It's the late-great Steve Goodman (who was a constant writing partner of John Prine) singing A Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request. I'd just feel mean piling another joke on to that eulogy, so I'll leave you with GO STROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rarely have we seen two high-profile quarterbacks whose careers are more intertwined at key moments than Matt Leinart and Vince Young. Both guys reached the promise land in college, and both guys have had rocky starts to their NFL careers. This time around the duo will square-off in the preseason of their proverbial 'put up or shut up' years. If either of them craps the bed through this campaign it'll do a lot of damage to their overall career trajectory.
Follow us through the jump for all the Titans news that's fit to link...
LeGarrette Bount knows that he's a target for the opposition because of his punchy ways. Teams will try to provoke the big man into reacting and drawing a costly penalty, so it'll be interesting to see how Blount reacts under the pressure of a real game situation.
Eric Bakhtiari may be best known across the country for being the recipient of Blount's latest jab, and his wild hair has become a calling card for Titans fans. However, there's more to that hair than a fashion statement: Bakhtiari is growing it out to the appropriate length so that, after the season ends, he can chop it off and donate it to Locks of Love, a charity that takes hair donations to make wigs for people who are losing their own hair due to chemotherapy.
New QBs coach Dowell Loggains has quickly impressed the team with his work ethic and savy. Loggains got his break into the NFL when he became a scout under Bill Parcells in Dallas. He's been with the Titans for five years, and appears to be relishing the huge opportunity he's been given.
Football Outsiders discusses their predictions/projections for the AFC South, and puts us in second with 8.5 wins, though the writers split on going over or under that number. FO contributor, Total Titans blogger, and (most importantly) MCM commenter Tom Gower goes with the under... which just shows that he's not a real Titans fan! (Just kidding ya Tom)
The props just keep rolling in for Alterraun Verner...
Bobby Bowden spoke at Lipscomb University last night, and former Seminoles Chris Hope and Myron Rolle surprised their coach by showing up at the speaking event.
Have a great weekend!
