Tennessee Titans Training Camp Recap Day Three

The big story of the day was Rennie Curran switching his number to 53.

Jeff Fisher says it was a necessity:

"Well it’s the only 50’s number we’ve got available and we try to get the linebackers in the 50’s.  We’re going to have an issue with Will (Witherspoon), trying to get him in a number.  Rennie (Curran) was more than willing to do the best he could to carry on with the legacy because that number has been on our practice field and game field fairly consistently the last 10 years."

Fairly consistently....

For Curran's part, he seems to get the significance of wearing that number. Here is the video of his media session after practice.

Alterraun Verner got his shot with the first team defense today, and Fisher says he has a real shot at winning the job:

Oh, he’s legitimately in the running.  The things that we saw from him, not only prior to the draft, but basically the two weeks of the June OTAs he was fairly impressive.  He came in and made a lot of plays.  He’s definitely in the mix there.

Jonathan Hutton said Vince Young was very inconsistent today. This is a big camp for VY, and this is not what you want to hear from early in camp. There is still a lot of time left before any real games are played. Hopefully he will get it figured out.

Hutton has some praise for 2009 second round pick Sen'Derrick Marks.

Sen'Derrick Marks might be the most improved player when '10 camp is all said and done. Consistently winning battle at line of scrimmage.

Marks is one of the guys that the Titans really need to step up if they are going to improve the defense.

Eddie was at practice today (pictured above).  He is a large individual.
