Tennessee Titans vs. Seattle Seahawks: Some Things to Watch

It is really tough to take anything from the first preseason game, but here a few things to keep an eye on tonight:

Cortland Finnegan isn't going to play at all so we will get a lot of Alterraun Verner, Jason McCourty and Ryan MoutonVincent Fuller probably won't play either so we might even see all 3 of them on the field at the same time.  This competition appears to be wide open, and it will very likely come down to who performs the best in the preseason.

I can't wait to see LeGarrette Blount in a game situation.  He has made it clear that he has something to prove.  He and Stafon Johnson are probably battling for a roster spot.  Blount appears to be the guy that will get it because he provides the bruising running style, but we have seen in the past, Ganther, Quinon, that a guy can play his way onto the roster with a strong preseason.

The receivers are always fun to watch in the preseason.  Dominigue Edison and Marc Mariani look to be guys on the outside looking in, but again, they could play their way onto the roster with some good games.  Mariani also figures to get some work in the return game

Jeff Fisher has said that Kerry Collins won't play much in this game, if at all, because they know what he can do.  That means we are going to get a lot of Chris Simms and Rusty Smith.  Smith has become a training camp wonder.  It will be interesting to see what he does in live game action.  Try and not get too excited though if he puts up good numbers because most of the guys he is doing it against aren't NFL players.

These preseason games can be a long and boring at times, but the most important thing here is that the team will be suting up for some live action tonight.  That means the regular season is just around the corner.  The game will be shown locally here in Nashville (in HD finally) on WKRN and nationally on NFL Network (thanks Nathan).  Be sure and check in here for an open thread.  It is a late one, 9 p.m. central start, so get you a nap in this afternoon.

GO TITANS!!
