LP Field Flooding Update

The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore:

Power being shut off @ LP Field. Interesting as it is coinciding with damn water release rumor. LP Field could be underwater by tonight.

I don't know much about the dam, but the Cumberland River is currently at 52 feet (51.05 feet is level with LP Field), and is expected to keep rising until it crests at between 62 to 63 feet at about midnight. The field will start taking water from the entrance tunnels.

The City Paper caught up with Coach Fisher, who said "It’s close, but there has been absolutely no damage [yet]." Baptist Sports Park is fine, but the water has risen to the top of the fence that surrounds the practice fields. Important equipment have been moved to the bubble. While Metro Center was forced to evacuate, Fisher was one of only a few people that stayed in the building. All are cautiously optimistic that nothing happens when the Cumberland River crests.

If you have ever been to LP Field, you're familiar with those flower pots that surround LP Field roads, now submerged in water. (via IamVicJames)
