Some guy name Chris Johnson wants a bigger contract because he's amazing and amazingly underpaid. Reinfeldt says they expect CJ2K to honor his contract, but he also refused to say 100% that he a new contract is completely out of the question.
Journeyman CB Tye Hill is getting settled in at the Titans' OTAs, and he's feeding off of the confidence the Titans have about their defensive unit because. With stops in St. Louis and Atlanta, he's never really been on a team that put as much importance and emphasis on the the defensive side of the ball:
"Everywhere I’ve been it’s been, ‘If the defense … if, if, if the defense holds up everything will be fine,’" Hill said Wednesday. "It’s good to be here. The chatter is good and the defense is good. Guys are confident and have a lot of aggression."
Also included in this link, Jason Jones (no surprise here, the kid hasn't been healthy for two consecutive days since he got to Nashville), Rod Hood (sports hernia we noted last week), Tony Brown and veteran returner Mark Jones (glad to hear he's still in the mix at camp... I still have faith in Jones as an above average returner) have all been rehabbing injuries this week.
Follow us through the jump for a surprisingly large number of Titans links for a late May Thursday...
Nick Schommer is a long shot to make the Titans' roster, but apparently he's been the one making plays during OTAs. Our safety depth is pretty crowded with Myron Rolle, Robert Johnson, Donnie Nickey and nickel back Vinny Fulller already in the mix behind established starters Griffin and Hope. If only one of those guys was completely worthless at playing defense, maybe then we could find a spot on the roster for a guy who is making plays that don't involve cheap shots on his own teammates.
Dominique Edison spent last season on the bottom of the Titans' WR depth chart, and that spot is looking harder than ever to hold on to with yet another crop of WRs being drafted.
Reader/commenter ryansax points us towards the news that, after years of stability on the O-line, this season will see two guys lining up where they haven't before as starters: it's looking pretty set in stone that Eugene Amano will be the new center and Leroy Harris will take Amano's old spot at left guard.
Folks around camp expect Gerald McRath to be a starter this year. Maybe then Terry Bulger will realize how to spell his name...
This week in 'not reading the article you're theorizing on', whomever writes the ESPN SportsCenter blog thinks CJ2K could be holding out because he wasn't invited to Houston with Vince Young and the WRs. Not only is that a dumb theory just on it's own, but the Tennessean article they linked to clearly states that WRs, TEs and RBs are all invited and welcome to come.
