Here is how the AFC South shapes up after 8 weeks of play:
Colts | 5 | 2 |
Titans | 5 | 3 |
Texans | 4 | 3 |
Jaguars | 4 | 4 |
The marquee game in the division this week was last night's game between the Texans and Colts. The Colts made a bit of a statement last night with their 30-17 win because a lot of people had them dead and buried. While this Colts team is not as good as some in the past have been, they are never done as long as they have Peyton Manning. He had another big night last night even without his starting tight end and a starting wide receiver. They have been banged up, but they are the leaders of the division until someone knocks them off.
The Texans just keep doing what they do. They have a ton of talent, but I won't believe they are for real until the season ends and they are in the playoffs. I have just seen it too many times before. They seemed to sleep walk through the first half of that game last night. By the time they decided they wanted to play it was too late.
The Jaguars went down to Jerry's place and put a beatdown on the Cowboys. David Garrard looked like David Garrard circa 2007 throwing for 260 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Jags have to be the most confusing team in the divison because they beat Indy and destroyed Dallas but looked like one of the worst teams in the league against the Titans.
This race is going to be a fun one that will go down to the wire. The tough thing is it looks like this year the AFC South is only going to get one playoff team because the wild cards will probably come out of the East and Central.
