Tennessee Titans Daily Links: Rusty Smith Becomes The Back-Up Edition

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Jeff Fisher told the media yesterday that he had no issue with VY going to open his steakhouse in Austin over the break. Much as I suspected, there was nothing that was going to help that ankle except rest, and the team felt that there was no difference between his leg being in a boot in Austin or his leg being booted in Nashville.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 If the last half of this season to to get back on track for the expectations the Titans and their fans have set, then it's looking like it needs to be CJ2K who straps on the cape and rescues the day.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 It's not exactly news that this season the Titans have struggled mightily with covering TEs, but it's even more painful to see the numbers together:

• 3 catches/88 yards for Kevin Boss
• 5 catches/84 yards/1TD for Jason Witten
• 5 catches/123 yards/1 TD for Antonio Gates
• 5 catches/107 yards/1 TD for Anthony Fasano

Jump!

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Randy Moss had several opportunities where he was open on Sunday but wasn't targeted by Collins or Young. Moss kept a tight lip and said he was OK with how he was used, despite missing the final heave because he was tuckered out:

"Randy wasn't tired because he was out of shape. Randy was tired because he was running go routes, and deep routes down the field. … That's just what was going on. He was running a lot of deep routes," Fisher said.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Terry McCormick probably wishes he could bump that number 3 concern up to number 1 in light of the second story in three days about the unrest around VY's work ethic and toughness.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Kerry Collins is a lock to be out the next two weeks at a minimum, and Rusty Smith is being moved up to the number two spot as a result. The Titans could look at 3rd QBs to bring in, but they might not have anyone they want to put on the IR or chance releasing at this point to free-up the active roster spot.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 In other words, the Titans are officially one broken VY fingernail away from being run by a 6th round rookie QB in any number of division games.

Tennessee_titans_30x21 Randy Moss stayed in Miami, with permission from Jeff Fisher, so that he could gather some belongings from his home there. For what it's worth, Chris Johnson was still in Miami hanging out with Brandon Marshall Sunday night
