(GEORGE WALKER IV / THE TENNESSEAN)

I converted the interesting parts of Nate Washington's locker room interview to a transcript below. Click past the jump to see what he had to say about his injury.

(opening statements)

I've been rehabbing, you know, I don't want to make too many comments about it. I want to say I have great confidence in the coaching staff and training staff to get me back on the field at the time they feel is right.

(on how he felt at the time it happened and what he knew right away)

I knew right away it was a problem, for the most part. I didn't know the extend of it, or anything like that, but it didn't feel right, so they shut me down, and they've been doing a great job of giving me treatment so far...Like I said, I have great confidence that they'll make the right decision.

(on how frustrating it is  that it happened at this point in the season)

It's frustrating, you know, and coming in to these types of situations, it's a possibility, so I'm trying to stay high spirited; the guys in the locker room who have been keeping me high spirited, the coaching staff telling me everything's gonna be okay... You know, it's gonna be a hard time, you know I've never gone through this before. This is just going to be something I deal with and get better with.

(on if he has felt anything like this before)

This is my first injury, so I don't know, it was new to me...I don't ever have to motivate myself, I'm always on a high, natural high...No matter what happens, you know, I'll be okay...worst comes to worse, I'm always gonna be here for these guys...The coaching staff has been doing a good job of you know, concerns, and keeping me posted on the things I'll be [doing], treatment wise, so like I said, I have every confidence that they'll make the right decision, and Coach Fisher's been doing a good job...

(on how soon he expects to be back)

I don't know yet, those questions need to be answered by Coach Fisher, I don't really know, I don't expect any date or any time, I don't know when it's gonna happen, it's all up to him and the training staff.

(on playing at Pittsburgh)

I don't know if it's in jeopardy or not, as far as missing that game, It'll be a very hard time for me. It's more so the opportunity that we have as a team, you know, It's not so much an individual effort but a team, and being there to help my teammates will be hard for me.

(later)

To miss that game would be big for me, but if I do, I'll definitely be there to help these guys in this locker room in that game, no matter what I have to do.

(on if he can feel it while walking)

I could feel it, it's a pulled muscle, so you feel any type of pulled muscle no matter where it's at, but as far as rehab, it's been going pretty good so far, it's all good, we're gonna get it better...

(on rehab)

I'm gonna do what ever I have to. This is not going to be a normal rehab... I'm not going to be getting normal training treatments, I'm not going to be placed with injury and rehabbing it back. When I need to, I'm going to be going above and beyond, probably, hopefully quicker that they expect it to.

(on how it happened)

Actually I was running, and unfortunately, it happened as I would start to shut it down. I've never felt anything like that before, so it was all new to me, so I immediately dropped. I knew it didn't feel right, and I didn't want to put any extra pressure on it. Hopefully I did a good job handling it the way I did.

(on the results of his MRIs)

We got the MRIs back, and everything seems pretty well.

(on if he's comfortable on his role in the offense and if he'll be able to get back when he's back)

Oh yeah, definitely, definitely, because like I said when I first came in, nine out of ten of football is mental aspect, and I'm going to stay on my film, I'm going to stay at practice, continue to watch, and continue to put myself in those situations.

(on his confidence in the receiving team stepping up)

Oh yeah, definitely, I don't see one flaw in our recieving corps that we have already, you know, we still have a couple more cuts to make. I feel anyone in our room can come out and make plays if we need them to. A lot of rookies, it's just a matter of getting them in the right spots, but they have potential to play at this level. The coaching staff, this offseason, did a great job of finding some guys who can play football...

(closing statements)

I'm not worried about it....It's nothing me or my teammates or the coaching staff is going to dwell on, we're all going to move forward from here, I was the one that was told growing up that one more can't stop the show, so you gotta keep pressing at it, keep going at it as a unit, so that's why I'll be there mentally for the guys until I get back, so we'll continue to get better, no matter what. Playing football , you get into this type of sport and you know injuries are going to happen, they come.
